Georgie Buchanan and Alana Middleton
Following sell out shows in Leeds, London, Sheffield and Bristol after the release of her acclaimed 2023 debut album ‘Wise as a Fool’, Georgie Buchanan will embark on a special UK and Ireland tour in Spring 2026 alongside Alana Middleton.
An unmissable collaboration between two stalwarts of the Leeds contemporary folk scene, together they craft expressive musical landscapes of acapella harmonies, shimmering instrumentals, and storytelling that speaks of a heartfelt connection with the natural world. They perform traditional songs, material from Georgie’s album ‘Wise as a Fool’ and co-written compositions, inspired by voyages to the Outer Hebrides, tales of ancient Celtic Goddesses and great singers from Peggy Seeger to Joni Mitchell.
Georgie and Alana's previous collaborations include:
Concerts at festivals such as Onwards Festival and across the UK with promoters such as Shire Folk
Community workshops and participatory concerts at venues such as Canon Frome Court
Multi-artform collaboration such as their 2024 and 2025 collaboration with storyteller Marcus Pibworth
Workshops & Retreats
Georgie and Alana facilitate accessible singing workshops and retreats around the UK and Ireland. Each workshop incorporates nourishing vocal warm ups, inspiring original and traditional songs and the opportunity to sing together in a welcoming group where all voices are welcome
In Summer 2025 Georgie and Alana facilitated a celebration of the Summer Solstice with a four day immersion into song, songwriting and nature connection in the beautiful landscapes of Donegal, Ireland. This retreat was a unique opportunity to awaken creativity and write and sing songs together within a warm community.

Feel All The Motion

Georgie Buchanan
Georgie Buchanan is a unique singer and harpist on the contemporary folk scene. Hailing from the North Shore Mountains of Canada and the Chiltern Hills, Georgie has always felt most at home creating music in the rich landscapes of the natural world. Since immersing herself in the folk world she’s performed with Show of Hands on the main stage of Sidmouth Folk Festival, been selected for Sound and Music’s highly competitive New Voices Programme and had one of her original songs ‘Love is a Rocking Wave’ played on The Nest Collective’s ‘Singing with Nightingales, Homecoming Broadcast’ hosted by Sam Lee. Georgie was most recently selected to take part in the English Folk Expo’s Artist Mentoring Programme and performed at Focus Wales 2022 and Cambridge Folk Festival 2022 and 2023. She has supported renowned folk acts Ye Vagabonds, Katherine Priddy and John Francis Flynn.
Georgie released her debut album ‘Wise as a Fool’ in Spring 2023 and toured around the UK with sell out shows in Leeds, London, Sheffield and Bristol. Songs from the album were played on Guy Garvey’s Finest Hour BBC6Music, Hannah Peel’s Night Tracks BBC Radio 3 and Mark Radcliffe’s Folk Show BBC Radio 3.
Alana Middleton
Alana Middleton is a traditional fiddle player, singer, choir leader and multi-arts facilitator based in Leeds. She performs regularly in the vibrant local folk scene as well as touring UK venues and festivals such as Sidmouth Folk Festival. Alana gained a First-Class Honours degree in Folk Music from Leeds Conservatoire, where she was trained by specialists such as Nancy Kerr, Jim Moray and Pete Flood. She is a versatile and skilled musician who performs with Captain Bullhead Ceilidh Band, pianist Ruben Maric, and old-time folk band Jambalaya. She co-leads the Farm Choir umbrella project at Meanwood Valley Urban Farm, Leeds and composes and teaches 3-4 part harmony songs about the natural world in singing workshops across the UK.
From wild, stomping and uplifting fiddle playing, to intimate and expressive singing, Alana's folk musicianship is embodied and heartfelt. Her rural upbringing in Herefordshire, surrounded by woods and hills, instilled a sense of deep connection with the natural world which she explores through traditional song and her own songwriting. In both workshop and performance settings Alana is inspired to create and hold inclusive spaces where we can celebrate our interconnectedness with each other and the land we live upon through folk music, traditional narratives and song.
Most recently, Alana has been exploring and immersing herself within the traditional music, set-dancing and mythology of the Gaeltacht areas of West Kerry and North Donegal, Ireland. Here she has been deepening her practice and learning directly from oral tradition bearers
